1.It can be used as lubricant, substrate, coating and wetting agent. Use as a suppository matrix.
2.The basic use of stearic suppository matrix or semisynthetic fatty acid ester is as a carrier for rectal or vaginal preparations of some drugs for local effects or systemic absorption purposes.

Storage:
Suppository substrates should be stored in airtight containers at a temperature at least 5ºC lower than the stated melting point. Moulded suppositories are usually stored in a refrigerator.
